Sorry it has been a while since the last post, but this is definitely newsworthy. It was even on "The News"!

But very cool! Xander got to see his Daddy on TV, even if it was brief.
Hey all, I know it's been a while since the site was updated. Sadly, the hard drive crash has lessened my interest lately since there is just so much to fix or recover. I'm thinking of one day redoing the website from scratch, but THAT effort is also very overwhelming.
In the meantime, I've got a Xander update to share. He's now 6 months and 13 days old, and he's learned so much recently. He's actually walking, supported by bitchin' plastic technology.

He's also sitting on his own now supported by his own muscle control. He's not sitting up from a back-laid or prone position yet, but sitting with ample toys at his feet, he can now entertain himself for literally (not figuratively) dozens of minutes. This is a huge thing for Amanda and me, since we can now comfortably walk away from him and do something else for a few minutes without worry (since he cannot yet crawl).
He's also developing his motor cortex, and can now easily grab onto something and manipulate its position in the world. Right now, into his mouth is the only important position for just about any object. We're slowly becoming more mindful of things we leave around... well, Amanda's much faster at it than I am.
The Life of a Teething Toy:
We had a wonderful 3 day weekend together and Xander really enjoyed having Daddy around so much. Xander was clearly much more comfortable than usual when he could see both Amanda and me at the same time, and there were times this weekend where he'd laughed more than I'd ever heard him laugh.
We bought him a bunch of toys and clothes at the local Goodwill's 1-day Labor Day sale. A sit-n-spin, an iMac G3 (Revision D), and some books and hats.
And we're back. What a wild week this has been. On July 27th, the Blow Chat showed signs of strange problems, warnings about read-only file systems and such. When I refreshed the page, the entire site began to show these issues.
So I rebooted the server, like any administrator should. I think. But she didn't come back up, and every time I rebooted the server I lost access to a few more files.
Lots of features are still missing. We've got an old version of the BlowChat that doesn't quite work right, most of the albums are completely gone, and the styles are wacky and outdated.
There's still lots to do, and there's going to be a lot of errors for a while. Much of the site will still work, and I'll continue to fix errors over time.
Thanks for coming back. We're totally off-site now. The Mac Mini hosts TBMD.com no more, and it no longer runs on a Broadstripe internet connection. :)
This is a great day for The Blow Me Down. After years of being blocked by the limits of the greatest technologies, TBMD is finally able to send an alert that a photo album has been created to our unofficial RSS implementation known as The Blow Chat.
In addition, submitting a photo album will no longer display strange and kooky code text. It'll just happily inform you that the album made it up to the server correctly. The testing phase of this three-year-old feature is finally over.
